The PDO Thread Lift – Indications and Results
The PDO thread lift is quite popular in Europe and Asia but relatively new in the US.
The procedure is used mainly to treat and lift the sagging skin of the mid and lower face.
PDO threads are sutures inserted under the skin. Overtime they dissolve leaving behind new fibers of collagen and a younger looking skin. There are different types of threads which can be placed in different patterns with different effects.
The PDO threads can be inserted in a mesh pattern, armoring and giving support to the lax skin. They can be used to subcize and treat scars or purely to lift the skin.
The results are better when a higher count of threads is used and when the skin has good elasticity.
The PDO thread lift is performed under topical or local anesthesia and it is a relatively comfortable procedure. Minimal bruising is expected but not more than with other injectable treatments.
The potential complications are facial asymmetry, infection, or thread migration.
