Recovery After Laser Liposuction

Laser liposuction has a short recovery time and patients can resume work 1-2 days after the procedure. During the first 24 hours I advise patients to rest and avoid physical exercise.  They can take their first shower 24 hour post procedure.

Patients use a special compression garment which will increase comfort during the first month. Lymphatic drainage is another treatment used to mobilize and reduce swelling.

I always ask my patients to avoid public pools or jacuzzi.

In addition hydration, a diet rich in proteins, avoiding cigarettes and alcohol will speed up the healing process.

What is the difference between a Vampire Facelift and a Vampire facial?

Top 3 Myths about Liposuction

 

 

 

1. Fat comes back. This is incorrect. We are born with a fixed amount of fatty cells and once removed they can not regenerate. Weight gain is due to swelling of the existing fatty cells. As long as the patient keeps a stable weight the results of the procedure and the newly created proportions will be preserved.
2. Laser liposuction and liposuction procedures are weight loss procedures. This is not true. Liposuction procedures are indicated for patients with less than  30% BMI. Liposuction is typically used for shaping and remodeling. Up to 5 lbs of fat can be removed in one session. 
3. All fat should be removed in the area of treatment. This is incorrect. The skin looks unhealthy if there is no fat left underneath. Fat makes the bony structures less obvious and if too much fat is removed the body could get a “skeletal” unwanted appearance.
